Signs to Watch For

• If you find that you are starting to run out of hot water for your daily requirements, or are experiencing changes in your water's temperature, there's a good chance that there is a problem with your water heater.

• If there are signs of a leak around your water heater, you should immediately get in touch with us. Left unaddressed, this could cause more serious plumbing issues.

• The discharge of discolored or rusty water from your faucets or taps can indicate that corrosion and sediment are building up inside your water heater. We can easily diagnose the extent of this and address it, accordingly.

• A faulty heating element in your water heater can create banging or popping noises to come from your water heater and indicate that it is on its last legs.

• Did you know that the lifespan of most water heaters is 8-10 years? Most manufacturers also only offer a 6-year warranty, and all manufacturers recommend annual maintenance to ensure proper operation after that time.

Types of Water Heaters:

There are several different types of water heaters in use, and you have multiple options available to you depending on your needs.

1. Tank Water Heaters: The most common type of water heater that holds a large amount of water at once, heats it and keeps it hot.
2. Hybrid Water Heaters: This style of water heater can save you money since it uses a heat pump to draw heat from the surrounding air and transfer it to the water.
3. Tankless Water Heaters: These are smaller units that are also referred to as on-demand water heaters. They take up a minimal amount of space since it does not store hot water. When hot water is desired, this unit heats the water directly as it flows through it. This type of water heater uses 30% less energy than a standard tank unit, and we believe that the top 10 best, modern water heaters are tankless.
4. There are also a few other options like solar water heaters that can be connected to solar panels, heat pump water heaters, and condensing water heaters. To find out which water heater is best for you, contact us to request an assessment.
5. Waialae Plumbing does solar water heaters! We even do the installation of solar panels and can maintain and repair all parts.

Leak Detection Services

Numerous Methods to Detect Leaks

Water is our most precious resource and we can't afford to waste anything. Luckily, Waialae Plumbing offers our leak detection services to help stop your high water bills. We have invested a lot into advanced equipment that allows us to find water leaks from pipes, under slabs and pools, or even from a sewer line. Many leaks can go unnoticed if you don't know what to look for. Please review the following information to see if you need our help.

Signs of a Water Leak:

• Probably one of the first things you may notice with a leak is an increase in your water bill. An undetected leak will begin to cost you a considerable amount of money within a few weeks.

• Mildew or mold. An undetected leak can create the perfect environment for mold or mildew to begin growing in your home. Areas that do not have a good airflow will probably be affected, first.

• Unpleasant odors. A leak can cause water to start pooling under your sink or fixtures. This can lead to bacteria growth and bad odors, especially from the plumbing fixtures themselves.

• Stains or discoloration Any leak that has enough flow to allow water to seep into the walls or materials around it will begin to show discoloration or stain marks. Drip marks or drip trails may also be noticeable.

• If you have experienced a drop in water pressure, this could indicate a leak that is affecting the normal flow and pressure within the pipes.

• Cracks in your foundation can mean that there is a larger water or sewer line leak. This can cause your foundation to shift and begin to crack because the integrity of the concrete has been compromised.

Waialae Plumbing has solutions

Depending on the area where a leak is suspected, we can employ multiple options to see what kind of repair is necessary.

• Our plumbers are equipped with state-of-the-art hearing mechanisms that allow us to actually hear leaks underground or behind walls where they would otherwise go undetected.

We have camera systems that can be deployed into water lines and pipes that can find issues like this while remaining minimally invasive.

Waialae Plumbing has other electronic leak detection devices that allow us to determine if water is entering an area where there shouldn't be any. An alarm is sounded when one is detected.

• Each situation is different, and our technicians know the most efficient way to test for leaks. Aside from everything listed above, we also use dye tests, nitrogen pressure tests, metal locating, and shower base tests to find any problems.

• Experienced inspection techniques. Our plumbers are highly trained at detecting leaks and notice multiple factors about your home or business's environment. From grounds inspection to utilizing dye tests, we have multiple ways to determine the cause of an unexplained higher water bill.

Drain Cleaning Services

We Can Restore Normal Flow

Waialae plumbing can address all kinds of problems in your home drain. We understand that having a clogged drain can be frustrating and inconvenient, which is why we strive to provide fast and efficient solutions to our clients. Waialae Plumbing solves draining problems at least 5 times a day! We have multiple options for handling your drain issue. They range from Hydro Jetting to Descaling and Snaking. Learn more about each, below:

Camera Inspection

Waialae Plumbing uses special cameras designed for use in drains and pipes that provide our plumbers with an excellent view of the obstruction so that we can most effectively address the problem. These cameras have display screens to give our technicians a view that was not possible in the past and allow us to quickly get your household back to normal.

Hydro Jetting

This drain-clearing method goes hand-in-hand with our camera inspections for clearing drains. Once we have located and identified the drain/pipe obstruction, we use a specially designed tool to spray a stream of high-pressure water directly at the clog and break it up. Once the obstruction is cleared, it can drain down the line like anything else and your water flow is restored.

Sewer Pipe Descaling

Over time, particles can start to build up in your pipes and reduce/restrict flow. Waialae Plumbing can address this with our pipe descaling service. We use our cameras to inspect the pipes and then insert a cable with chains attached to the ends that spin to the exact diameter of the pipe. These chains grind and smooth out imperfections and knock off anything attached to the pipe to restore flow.

Pipe Snaking

A snake, also known as an auger, is a tool that is used to break through clogs and blockages in drains and pipes. It is a long, flexible cable that is inserted into the drain and rotated to help clear any debris that may be causing the blockage. Snakes come in various sizes and lengths, and our skilled plumbers will select the most suitable one for your drain based on its size and the type of clog it's dealing with.
